The Delta Wood Lathe was offered by Delta in two models; a 4-speed version for wood turning and a speed version for wood and light metal work. Pictured here is the one with the counter shaft unit for wood and metal. This lathe is rigid and accurate and appears to the the perfect lathe for general wood working applictions. I have a Delta lathe that I just got from another forum member, and, under the outboard bearing, it has a couple of shims in it, not a spring washer. It has bearings, which are single row. Disassemble the headstock as per instructions in the manual. Thouroughly clean the bearing housing in the casting and the spindle.
